My tattoo is peeling. When i put lotion on it little pieces fall off it that ok?

I got my tattoo on June 26th. Just about a week ago, it was my first. Ive been washing it two times a day with dail soap. And applying lubriderm normal to dry skin lotion throughout the day when needed. It has begun to peel. Now that its peeling, sometimes when i apply the lotion to it little pieces fall off as im lotioning. I am not scratching or picking them off it just comes off. Is that okay?

this is perfectly normal. When you first got the tattoo you could feel it with your eyes closed; am I right? The tattoo was raised of the skin?
A normal tattoo is flat on the skin.

What’s happening now is that the tattooing process has formed black (or colored) scabs on your skin … they are now falling off. This is perfectly normal.
You’ll see that even though the pieces fall of the skin underneath still has the ink on it.

Don’t worry; sounds to me like you’re taking perfect care of your new body art.

  1. sounds like a fake tatoo you put on with water, if it is then it is time to go to the grocery store and get another

  3. My stepfather has 6 tattoos and each of them did that after he got them done and he washed and lotioned them daily. It’s normal and it’ll stop eventually.

  6. Its fine, just keep it clean and don’t pick the scabs or you’ll take the colour out of it

  7. Ha, I just had one done as well on the 26th, Down at Oracle in my town. I’m having the same problem that it’s starting to dry much more rapidly and peel a little. From what I’ve been told, and of course from reading here, that’s normal. Worse comes to Worst, most Tattoo shops will do Free Touch-ups if something appears faded when done healing. I know Oracle will in Tamaqua, but if that’s not where you got yours just feel free to ask your tattoo artist.

  8. you were really suppose to keep it dry…
& NOT pick it off, let it scab over & fall off on its own.
then it wont look fkd up after.
